The MCCA will highlight emerging student success research, introduce new tools and resources to support institutional planning, share updates on statewide initiatives, and preview engagement opportunities for the 2026–2027 academic year with Presidents, Chancellors, and invited members of their leadership cabinets.

This preview session prepares fellows for Convening 1 by introducing key themes, speakers, and expectations. Fellows will review pre-work, understand how the session connects to their Student Success Projects, and come ready to engage in conversations around leadership and student success.

The Michigan Community College Associations hosts virtual networking opportunities for Board of Trustees and Regents from our member colleges. These casual convenings are an opportunity to connect with fellow board members, discuss any pertinent issues, ask questions and build relationships. The August 2026 meeting focus will focus on Summer Conference takeaways for attendees and non-attendees, fall semester prep and upcoming trustee elections. Bring your lunch and connect!

Webinar Objective: Identify which student populations experience basic needs insecurity and understand the systemic and personal barriers they face. 

Work Product: Colleges will identify the greatest barriers faced by students. They will connect those barriers with services that directly impact the basic needs challenge and services that indirectly impact students (advising, tutoring, student services).

This webinar is part of the OH-MI Pathways Together: Advancing Student Success Through Basic Needs initiative. This opening convening explores the role of leadership in advancing student success.
