This preview session prepares fellows for Convening 6 by introducing key themes, speakers, and expectations. Fellows will review pre-work, understand how the session connects to their Student Success Projects, and come ready to engage in conversations around leadership and student success.

Webinar Objective: Identify which student populations experience basic needs insecurity and understand the systemic and personal barriers they face. 

Work Product: Colleges will identify the greatest barriers faced by students. They will connect those barriers with services that directly impact the basic needs challenge and services that indirectly impact students (advising, tutoring, student services).

This opening convening explores the role of leadership in advancing student success. Fellows examine Michigan’s higher education landscape, define student success through a data-informed lens, and begin shaping their Student Success Projects. The session also focuses on fostering a culture of evidence to support decision-making and institutional improvement.
