Five Michigan community colleges are among 120 nationwide invited to compete for the 2013 Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence.

www.aspeninstitute.org/news/2012/04/23/aspen-institute-names-120-top-us-community-collegesThe Michigan community colleges invited Monday are Gogebic Community College in Ironwood, Delta College in Saginaw, Kellogg Community College in Battle Creek, Macomb Community College in Warren, and Mott Community College in Flint. The colleges will undergo a yearlong look at how well their students learn, complete degrees and get jobs with competitive wages after graduating. Ten finalists for the $1 million prize will be named in September.
