Starting Salary: $43,690 - $56,401

This faculty member is responsible for teaching mathematics courses from Pre-Algebra to Differential Equations and college level physics courses. This instructor will develop and revise courses and course materials as needed. This individual will also assume responsibility for mentoring adjunct faculty. This faculty member is a member of the professional teaching staff that is responsible for effectively implementing the mission of NMC and the Science/Math academic area. Responsibilities may include teaching nights, weekends, and/or online instruction.
All Faculty positions commensurate with degree and experience as outlined in the NMC Faculty Association Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Supervises others in accordance with NMC's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding, recognizing employees; addressing performance problems or gaps.

This is a full-time, two teaching semester position.

• Minimum education of Master's degree in mathematics or coursework consistent with a graduate degree in mathematics (18 graduate credits in mathematics) and Master’s degree in physics or coursework consistent with a graduate degree in physics (18 graduate credits in physics).
• Demonstrated experience in teaching mathematics and/or physics.
• Mastery of or ability to learn software and computer skills including word processing, databases, spreadsheets, presentation software.
• The ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and constituents of varying technical backgrounds.
• Excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop rapport quickly, speak and listen effectively, and the ability to give succinct instructions.
• Experience using a graphing calculator and other math technology as a teaching tool.

• Coursework/teaching experience with probability and statistics.
• College-level teaching experience in mathematics and/or physics.
• Experience in the instruction of online courses using a Course Management System (CMS).
• Experience at the community college level as instructor and/or student.
• Able to describe how multicultural issues have been or will be brought into courses
• Previous experience teaching or mentoring minorities or members of other underrepresented groups that relate to this position
