DescriptionSouthwestern Michigan College, a two-year college located approximately 30 minutes north of South Bend, Indiana, and approximately 30 minutes from Lake Michigan, is seeking a full-time Coordinator of Tutoring Services.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Coordinator of Tutoring Services reports to the Director of Library Services and provides for the effective operation of all tutoring services at the Fred L. Mathews Library. This position is based on the Dowagiac Campus but required travel to the Niles Campus. This includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:
• Coordinate and manage the Tutoring Services staff and provide appropriate tutoring support services to students, faculty, and staff.
• Supervise the Part-Time Assistant Coordinator of Tutoring Services at the Niles Campus, and all tutors at the Dowagiac Campus.
• Work with Human Resources to recruit, interview, and select to fill all open positions.
• Conduct annual performance reviews with direct reports, as well as, provide continuous feedback throughout the year to assist with employee development and growth.
• Ensure adequate tutoring coverage for both Tutoring Services locations.
• Collaborate with instructors and other instructional division administrators to facilitate the integration of Tutoring Services with the total educational program of the College.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to provide shadow tutoring in specific classes and one-on-one tutoring.
• Collaborate with faculty and chairs to provide course-specific training for tutoring staff.
• Present workshops and seminars each semester as requested by staff or faculty.
• Participate actively in professional development appropriate for the position.
• Maintain current resources for the Tutoring Services.
• Maintain appropriate records documenting tutoring usage from Tutortrac.
• Develop orientation and course-specific training for all tutors.
• Provide accurate reports for administration in regard to status of tutors, including but not limited to maintaining appropriate level of hours.
• Oversee the annual tutoring wage budget.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Library Services.
QualificationsREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required.
• 2-4 years of related work experience preferred.

Knowledge Of:
• Computer and office applications, particularly Microsoft Office and web content management.
• Teaching learning strategies to enhance learning outcomes for students with academic challenges.
Skills:
• Strong supervisory skills.
• Strong public orientation and ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work well with individuals with diverse backgrounds.
Ability:
• Dexterity of hands to operate a computer keyboard.
• Attention to accuracy.
• Hearing and speaking to exchange information with students, staff, and public.
• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
• Ability to stay focused in a work environment of interruptions and distractions.
