Oakland Community College is training 190 new employees at two global firms, DENSO International and EMAG L.L.C.

DENSO International and EMAG L.L.C. are expanding design, engineering and manufacturing operations in Oakland County. Oakland Community College obtained more than $3.1 million in training incentives for these two projects through the Michigan New Jobs Training program.

National initiative, Right Skills Now, has selected Wayne County Community College District to bolster the region's manufacturing workforce.

The program is an expedited manufacturing training program led by The Manufacturing Institute, The National Association of Manufacturers, The National Institute for Metalworking Skills, American College Testing and the President's Council on Jobs and Competitiveness. WCCCD is the first state college to launch Right Skills Now

Students that graduate from Bay de Noc Community College’s new two-year associate's degree program in network administration (among the fastest-growing job sectors), can transfer all the credits to NMU and complete a bachelor of science degree in network computing in three years total.

Postsecondary Education Opportunity published data on the college participation rates among students from low-income families by state from 1993-2010. Michigan ranks #1 in participation rates from low-income families between 2000 and 2010 - from 24.3% to 46.8%, and #6 overall.

Jackson Community College is a partner in a new partnership between three U.S. community colleges and Brazilian organizations is designed to broaden technical skills and international experience for students from both countries. The US-Brazil Partnership for Skills partners with the National Industrial Apprenticeship Service of Brazil (SENAI) and the Social Service for Industry of Brazil (SESI).
