Kellogg Community College, Kalamazoo Valley Community College, and Western Michigan University will jointly host the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs VetSuccess on Campus program.

The program is designed to assist veterans as they transition from the military to civilian life. The three institutions will share the services of one VetSuccess on Campus counselor, who will be available five days a week to answer veterans’ questions on topics ranging from educational and medical benefits to employment, housing and even burial services.

Muskegon Community College signs Michigan New Jobs Training Program agreement with the automotive supplier ADAC.

The Michigan New Jobs Training Program agreement with ADAC will allow Muskegon Community College to provide training in statistics, process control, safety in handling materials, basic paint chemistry, advanced equipment maintenance and basic robotic programming.

Mary VanderKolk, Health Occupations Instructor at Northwestern Michigan College, has been appointed to the Michigan Board of Nursing by Governor Rick Snyder. The 23-member board oversees the licensure requirements and standards for nurses in Michigan and serve four-year terms.

Jackson Community College plans to open its new North Campus this Fall.

Muskegon Community College partnered with Grand Valley Community College to facilitate the "reverse transfer" of credits.

The agreement between Muskegon Community College (MCC) and Grand Valley Community College (GVSU) allows students with at least 30 MCC credits to reverse transfer up to 32 GVSU credits.  The goal of the agreement is to help students accumulate postsecondary credits to attain Associate Degrees.

Wayne County Community College is highlighted in an article in The Chronicle of Higher Education for its efforts in building the path to employability for ex-offenders.

About three years ago, the college began a partnership with Detroiters Working for Environmental Justice to offer a 12-week certificate program for green jobs. Many ex-offenders enroll in the program, which has no tuition: Grants from the city and other sources cover costs. Students receive training in numerous specialties, including lead, asbestos, and mold abatement; energy auditing; and environmental assessments.
