Kalamazoo Valley Community College's Production Technician Academy - a competency-based, fast-track program to prepare production workers for an advanced manufacturing environment - was designed by local employers who are looking for a way to meet the growing demand for qualified production workers and fill local manufacturing jobs.

The program provides ACT and SAT preparation, talent assessments, college visits, tutoring and financial planning for high school students – mostly from low income households and whose parents have not attended college.

Oakland Community College is training 190 new employees at two global firms, DENSO International and EMAG L.L.C.

DENSO International and EMAG L.L.C. are expanding design, engineering and manufacturing operations in Oakland County. Oakland Community College obtained more than $3.1 million in training incentives for these two projects through the Michigan New Jobs Training program.

National initiative, Right Skills Now, has selected Wayne County Community College District to bolster the region's manufacturing workforce.
