Measuring the Impact of OER Initiatives: An Assessment Framework - December 11, 2018
When we assess the impact of our OER projects, cost savings to students are metrics we normally track. It is certainly true with the MCO OER initiative since cost savings data are what the institutions with active OER projects are required to report. However, the impact of OER adoption and usage goes beyond cost savings calculations. This presentation will provide additional measures for assessing OER initiatives using the Cost, Outcomes, Usage, Perceptions (COUP) framework by the Open Education Research Group. We will show how we used this framework for developing an assessment plan that tracks not just how much students save but the impact of OER on student learning, retention, persistence, and overall student success. Presenters: Regina Gong and Karen Hicks, Lansing Community College
